Enjoy activities and guest presenters throughout the week and have fun learning about trees and their tremendous qualities! Attendance to our events during Eco-Blitz week makes you eligible to enter a drawing for prizes at the end of the week.

Kids Forestry Class (8-10 Yr. olds)
Tuesday, June 20; 9:00-10:30 a.m.
Trees serve many different roles in our environment and our daily lives. In this class, students learn how different types of trees function, focusing on trees that are native to our piece of Minnesota. Each learner will develop skills that foresters use to understand the woods. *Space is limited, RSVP early

Forest Preservation Work Party
Wednesday, June 21; 3:30-5:00 p.m.
Our forests at the Nature Center are home to a large variety of wildlife and species of plants, but invasive species, like buckthorn, inhibit the growth and development of a good forest habitat. Learn about how invasive species affect forest habitats. Then we will be heading out into the forest to continue our forest restoration efforts of pulling buckthorn.

Tree Care 101: Planting Pruning & Pests

Have you ever wanted to plant more trees in your yard but are not sure where to start or how to care for them? Join Community Forestry Corps members Kris and Jenna as they answer all your questions regarding planting, pruning, and care of containerized trees.

Do you ever wish you could identify trees better just by looking at them or answer your kids questions about what type of tree is in your backyard? A Naturalist will teach you how to use a simple tree ID key and then take you on a walk to practice your new identifying skills.  *Space is limited, RSVP early
