Geocaching

Do you have a love for the outdoors, a fondness for high tech toys and an
experience for you!  Thousands of people in over 200 countries are
discovering the pastime known as geocaching.  It is the adventure sport
that has families and individuals using the internet, handheld GPS units,
and their eyes and wits to search for treasures while enjoying nature!
Find the cache, take something, leave something, and sign the logbook.
In honor of the 40th Anniversary of the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center,
we are offering a special year-long geocache treasure hunt.  Come out and
discover nature while geocaching!
This treasure hunt can be found at the Hormel Nature Center Visitor
Center. There are five different cache sites to locate with a playing card in
each one.  You will need to bring a card from all five locations into the
office to collect the $5.00 prize—a gift certificate to Superfresh Produce
and Bakery.  You will also be able to register for the grand prize—$40.00
in CASH at the end of the year.  The caches are near trails which are on
flat land.  You can hike, cross country ski and/or snowshoe on the trails
which are open from 6:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. daily.
